#TeachEmYoung: Three-Year-Old Ava Lewis Sells Lemonade to Buy Diapers For Moms in Need

We need more of this! Three-year-old Ava Lewis of Durham, NC wanted to do something to help mothers in need. Her mother, Maggie Lewis, suggested she sell bracelets but Ava insisted on selling lemonade, with the proceeds going towards the purchase of baby wipes and diapers for families in need. Ava set out her stand in front of her mother’s hair salon and quickly went from selling lemonade by the cup to selling lemonade by the gallon.

Ava hit her goal and on Monday, August 12th, Ava and her mother dropped off several boxes of diapers and baby wipes to the Good Samaritan Inn, operated by the Durham Rescue Mission, which houses an average of 130 women and children each night. Gail Mills, Director of the Good Samaritan Inn, stated “It just means the world to us to see a young person…that is thinking of others. It just makes my day. Such a heartwarming experience to meet little Ava and to see how her mother is teaching her at such a young age to care for others and to share her blessing with people who are having a hard time.”

Ava’s big heart was influenced by her mother, who gives back to her community by handing out book bags to students or passing out essentials for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

Salute to this princess, for making her mark on the world. Salute to her mom for leading by example. Hopefully the kind acts of this three-year-old will inspire others to pay it forward. If she can do it, so can you!
